“In simplicity and unpretentiousness, joy and devoted service, we continue to live. . . the healing presence of Christ, embodied in varied forms and cultures.” The Hospital Sisters’ goal is “to be and to become the healing presence of Jesus.” Some examples of how the sisters accomplish this goal are: serving in pastoral care, caring for the sick and poor, working for social justice, nursing the sick, giving spiritual direction, and many other kinds of service. #5 General Constitutions of the Hospital Sisters of St Francis
Everyone is called to live a happy worthwhile life of service to others. God has a plan for each person. This plan is revealed by prayer, discernment, and considering the options under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
CONSIDER THIS:
--am I happy with my present life?
--do I find the lives of Francis and Clare inspiring, and would I like to live as they did?
--do I long for community to share my faith and spiritual life?
--do I desire a deeper spiritual life?
--do I need further direction in my life?
--do I feel called to a life of service?
St. Francis of Assisi’s prayer to know God’s will for his life
Most High Glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my heart, Give me right faith, a certain hope and a perfect charity. Grant me insight and wisdom so that I can always carry out your holy and true command.
We Franciscan Sisters often pray this prayer. It reminds us of our Franciscan vocation to be of service to the sick and poor. We pray you will find wisdom and light as you, too, pray this prayer.

Visit CatholicsOnCall.org. This organization assists young adults to reflect on God’s call in their lives. They reach out to people who may be considering the possibility of a life of service in the Church as a lay minister, religious sister or brother, or priest. Catholics On Call can help learn more about the opportunities of service in the Church and about listening to God’s call in your life. Catholics On Call also provides programs and information for those who minister to and with young adults. Vocation directors, campus ministers, and other pastoral ministers can visit this site for updated program information and inspiration relating to your ministry.
We invite you to visit us on Facebook and look forward to chatting with you.
